Newark, New Jersey, is a city on the rise.  From office tower construction to residential and commercial development to a thriving arts and cultural scene, the city has been experiencing a renaissance that is making it an attractive destination for businesses and residents to locate.

Verizon New Jersey has played a role in Newark’s revitalization, recently completing construction of its all-fiber optic network to every neighborhood in the city, transforming the Garden State’s largest city into a 100 percent fiber-optic city and creating a technological foundation for economic growth and quality of life.

Verizon placed more than 1.3 million feet of fiber and network infrastructure under and above the streets of Newark, making its FiOS services available to more than 135,000 addresses across the city’s five wards.

“Our network will help the city attract high-tech businesses that rely on the latest technologies.”

Verizon’s fiber network provides a superior choice for customers’ communications and entertainment needs.  For example:

  • FiOS Quantum Internet delivers symmetrical broadband speeds up to 500 megabits per second, giving customers the ability to download a two-hour HD video in just over a minute-and-a-half and to upload the average PowerPoint presentation in 40 seconds.
  • FiOS Quantum TV offers more than 160 HD channels and more than 95,000 video on demand titles, the ability to record up to 12 shows at one time and video streaming in and out of the home.
  • Fiber networks offer outstanding reliability and flexibility to adapt to technological changes the future will bring.

“We have invested in Newark’s future with our state-of-the-art fiber network,” said Sam Delgado, vice president of external affairs for Verizon New Jersey. “Our network will help the city attract high-tech businesses that rely on the latest technologies.”
